upweller information

What is an upweller?

An upweller is a shallow 15'X 6' tank with sixteen 18" diameter silos. The silos have a fine screen bottom that allows water to flow up (upwell) into the silo. The water then exits through a flow hole cut in the side of the silo near the top.

Location of Upwellers

Stop by locations marked with an (*) below and talk to the people who take care of the baby clams and oysters in that nursery, called an upweller. We would enjoy telling you what we are doing and how this and YOU can help improve and protect the bay.

  1. How many clams are in there?
  2. Where do you get them?
  3. How fast do they grow?
  4. What do you do with them?
  5. Your question
