Help Us Save Our Beautiful Bay
ReClam the Bay cultivates and nurtures millions of baby clams and oysters, enriching the ecosystem of Barnegat Bay, Manahawkin Bay, and Little Egg Harbor Bay. Our mission is to raise awareness about the invaluable services shellfish provide to our environment and communities.
These shellfish play a vital role in the health of our coastal waters. As natural filter feeders, they help improve water quality by removing pollutants and excess nutrients. Their presence helps stabilize shorelines, reducing erosion and protecting coastal habitats.
By supporting our efforts, you’re not just helping these shellfish thrive—you’re also investing in cleaner, healthier waters and a more resilient coastal ecosystem. Together, let’s give them a better home so they can continue to give us a better home.

We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It
Our mission is to involve and educate the public about the estuary’s water quality and the importance of shellfish. We believe that by involving the public in the care, feeding, and life cycles of the shellfish they will better understand what an integral role shellfish have in our lives.
Our Top Priorities
Our top priority at ReClam the Bay is to stimulate action by providing education and opportunities to participate.
Raising Happy Shellfish
Properly raising shellfish like oysters and clams, requires careful attention to environmental conditions and husbandry practices. ReClam The Bay takes pride in working with clean, nutrient-rich shellfish nurseries called upwellers so they can thrive.
Investing in The Watershed
We are dedicated to supporting initiatives that benefit the Barnegat Bay watershed through donations, volunteering, and more. With community outreach and engagement, ReClam The Bay has raised awareness about the importance of watershed conservation as well as donated thousands of dollars and shellfish in Barnegat, Manahawkin and Little Egg Harbor bays.
Working with Our Partners
ReClam The Bay prospers through both its financial and community partners. These partnerships increase our organization’s reach and effectiveness, creating a sense of shared responsibility and collaboration within the community.
Outreach Education
ReClam the Bay approaches outreach education through formal classroom learning and informal community events. These community events allow RCTB volunteers the opportunity to reach out to the public, provide education, raise funds, and sell merchandise. Some previous venues include the Beach Haven Artisan Market, Beach Plum Festival, Surf City Farmers Market, The Manahawkin BoatYard, New Jersey Maritime Museum, Chowderfest and Shellabration. Our members have been able to share our mission and work with over 10,000 attendees.
Stabilizing Shorelines
ReClam the Bay engages in a multifaceted approach to promote environmental stewardship and sustainability in the Barnegat Bay estuary. We aim to demonstrate the valuable services shellfish provide to the bay.
